You may wonder if the reasons to outsource are worth the potential risk of hiring another company to take on a portion of your workload. There are many benefits of handing over tasks, especially if you feel there aren’t enough hours in the day. Attempting to do everything in-house can end up costing more in the long run than hiring an outside vendor.
- Make More Money: The saying, “You’ve got to spend money to make money” really comes into play here. If your company is wasting time making or taking calls, standing at the copy machine or licking envelopes, chances are you could really benefit from having this time back to do activities that directly generate revenue and sales.
- Save Time : Because you can’t be everywhere doing everything all at the same time, delegating those tasks that are most time consuming and least rewarding in your current business model makes sense. How much is your time worth to you?
- Strengthen Weaknesses: Chances are a beauty salon will not be an expert in negotiating TV ratings. However, if that salon uses an outside media buying expert, they can save money by having their commercial placement and costs heavily negotiated. This also puts that commercial right in front of their target audience, with bonus options that will increase exposure. Every business model shows a SWOT analysis. By turning your weaknesses into strengths and opening new opportunities by freeing up valuable time, your company gains an advantage.
- Rise to Your Potential: By strategically outsourcing mundane tasks and/or experts within a given field, you can better utilize your in-house resources who are experts in your own field. If you are a real-estate company, your assistant that has worked with you in real-estate for 10 years probably has more to offer than standing at the copy machine and chances are, she’s not an expert in web design either. However, she has knowledge in your given field that an outsourcing company does not. She may be capable of becoming a realtor and may welcome an opportunity to make more $, at a lesser cost than hiring someone else, which in turn makes your company more profitable and more valuable. Who do you have in mind? When you allow your subordinates to rise to their potential, you yourself can rise to yours.
- Gain a Competitive Edge: Either your company or your competitors will get steps ahead by outsourcing. It can really make the difference positioning your company on top or coming in second, third or last place. Work Smarter, Not Harder.
